This article has been updated as of May 13, 2026 to replace the old short award note with a verified season-end summary. Kaytron Allen’s 2025 season should be covered as a completed Penn State record and honors profile, not as an open Pinstripe Bowl participation question.
The New Rushing Leader
Penn State’s December 4 All-Big Ten release listed Allen at 4,180 career rushing yards, passing Evan Royster’s previous school record of 3,932. The record-breaking run came against Nebraska on November 22, when Allen moved past both Saquon Barkley and Royster during Penn State’s 37-10 win.
The official release also noted that Allen became the 23rd Big Ten player to reach 4,000 career rushing yards and moved to 18th in Big Ten history after the Rutgers game. That gives the record broader conference context, not only a Penn State leaderboard note.
2025 Production
Penn State credited Allen with 1,303 rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns for the 2025 season. The All-Big Ten release said he ranked among the national leaders in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns and had five 100-yard rushing games: FIU, Iowa, Michigan State, Nebraska, and Rutgers.
The Rutgers finale was especially important because Allen rushed for a career-high 226 yards. Penn State listed that as the program’s most rushing yards in a game since Larry Johnson’s 279 against Michigan State in 2002 and the 12th-most in a game in school history.
All-America Honors
GoPSUSports announced on December 16, 2025 that Allen was named a second-team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association. The same release noted that he had been named a third-team All-American by the Associated Press one day earlier.
Onward State’s AP All-America report matched the AP placement and also noted that Olaivavega Ioane earned AP second-team All-America honors. GoPSUSports’ Walter Camp release confirmed Ioane’s second-team Walter Camp recognition.
All-Big Ten Honors
Allen was also a first-team All-Big Ten running back by both the coaches and media. The Big Ten’s official all-conference page lists him as a first-team running back in the coaches table, and Penn State’s release says he was first team by both selectors.
That matters because Penn State’s team record did not match preseason expectations, but the individual honors still show how strong the top of the roster remained. Allen and Ioane became the clearest offensive examples.
2026 Depth-Chart Meaning
Allen later moved into the 2026 NFL Draft and was selected by the Washington Commanders in the sixth round. That means this page is now a program-history and awards archive. It should not be used to support any current Penn State running back depth chart.
The current backfield belongs to a new group. Allen’s record explains the size of the vacancy, but James Peoples, Carson Hansen, Quinton Martin Jr., Cam Wallace, and other active backs now carry the 2026 roster story.
