Williams intercepted a pass against Marshall and made three tackles against Buffalo as a freshman. His official biography lists two early 2026 appearances, not a season-long starting role.
Bryson Williams is a freshman safety from Omaha who joined Penn State after playing at Westside High School. His school biography credits him with 139 high-school tackles and nine interceptions across his career. Those are recruiting-background numbers, separate from his Penn State record.
Williams appeared in two of Penn State’s early 2026 games. He intercepted a pass in the fourth quarter against Marshall and made three tackles against Buffalo, according to the official player page. The two games establish actual defensive participation, though they do not establish a regular starting assignment.
Penn State lists Williams at 6-foot-4, a taller build than many defensive backs on the roster. Size and a high-school interception record alone do not predict a college coverage role; the Marshall takeaway and Buffalo tackles are the verified early-season evidence. His participation after Buffalo needs a newer game record before it can be described.
