Role and Depth Chart Context

Blanding appeared in all 13 Penn State games in 2025 and had nine tackles and two tackles for loss. Through Buffalo in 2026, he had two tackles and another tackle for loss.

Biography

Ty Blanding is a redshirt-junior defensive tackle who has progressed from limited early appearances into regular Penn State game participation. He played six games in 2024 and made three tackles with one tackle for loss. In 2025 he appeared in all 13 games, recording nine tackles and two tackles for loss.

Through the available early 2026 summary, Blanding had played three games with two tackles and one tackle for loss. The tackle for loss came in the opener against Marshall; he also assisted on a tackle against Buffalo. Those are modest but verified defensive contributions, not a basis for naming him a full-time starter.

His multi-season participation helps explain why he remains part of the interior-line conversation. Penn State’s biography does not assign a 2026 start or a fixed snap share, and its listed three-game total should not be treated as a complete season count after new games are played.
