Kaytron Allen etched his name into Penn State football history on November 22, 2025, becoming the program’s all-time leading rusher during a 37-10 win over Nebraska at Beaver Stadium. This article has been updated as of May 13, 2026 to include both the record-breaking night and the final career context.
Breaking The Record
GoPSUSports reported that Allen passed Saquon Barkley and Evan Royster in the Nebraska win, climbing to the top of Penn State’s career rushing list. Onward State, StateCollege.com, and Centre Daily Times all reported that Allen broke Royster’s record with a 3-yard fourth-quarter run.
At the end of the Nebraska game, Allen stood at 3,954 career rushing yards, passing Royster’s previous mark of 3,932 yards from 2007 through 2010. Allen finished that night with 25 carries for 160 yards and two touchdowns.
Final College Total
The Nebraska number was the record-breaking checkpoint, not the final career total. GoPSUSports’ December 16, 2025 All-America release listed Allen at 4,180 career rushing yards after the regular season and postseason updates. That same Penn State release said he led current FBS players in career rushing yards and ranked third among current FBS players in career rushing touchdowns at that point.
Using the final Penn State number matters for accuracy. A current profile should say Allen broke the record at 3,954 against Nebraska and later finished his Penn State career with 4,180 rushing yards.
2025 Season Context
Allen entered the 2025 season with 2,877 career rushing yards. By the end of the season, Penn State listed him with 1,303 rushing yards, 15 rushing touchdowns, and multiple national and conference honors. GoPSUSports reported that he earned AFCA second-team All-America recognition and AP third-team All-America recognition, plus first-team All-Big Ten honors from both the coaches and media.
The 2025 production was especially important because Penn State’s season had changed dramatically around him. Drew Allar’s injury, the coaching transition, and the late-season push put more pressure on the run game. Allen’s work against Michigan State, Nebraska, and Rutgers became part of the reason Penn State finished the regular season with momentum before the Pinstripe Bowl.
Career Journey
Allen’s path to the record began in 2022, when he became part of a two-back pairing with Nicholas Singleton. He was not always treated as the flashiest Penn State back, but his consistency kept stacking yards.
That is what makes the record notable. Allen reached the top of the list while sharing backfield work for much of his career. He paired volume with efficiency, stayed productive through staff and quarterback changes, and delivered his biggest season as a senior.
NFL Endpoint
Allen’s college career ended after the 2025 season, and he moved into the 2026 NFL Draft. Penn State University’s draft recap and Washington Commanders coverage reported that the Commanders selected Allen in the sixth round with the No. 187 overall pick.
That means he should not appear in current Penn State running back depth-chart charting. His record belongs in the program history archive, while the 2026 backfield discussion should focus on current roster options such as James Peoples, Cam Wallace, Quinton Martin Jr., and other active players.
