Howard caught 12 passes for 344 yards and two touchdowns through Buffalo. After missing Wisconsin and Northwestern, he was listed out in the initial October 7 USC availability report. No return date or season-ending designation is confirmed.
Koby Howard is a sophomore receiver whose first three games of 2026 established a clear big-play role. Penn State credits him with 12 catches for 344 yards and two receiving touchdowns through Buffalo, an average of 28.7 yards per catch. He also ran twice for 24 yards and a touchdown. In 2025, he had seven catches for 133 yards across nine games.
Howard caught six passes for 161 yards against Marshall, then gained 68 yards at Temple and 115 against Buffalo. The three-game run is a stronger indicator of his early-season contribution than any preseason depth-chart label. His production also explains why his absence became a significant question for Penn State’s passing game.
On September 23, Matt Campbell said Howard would be out for an extended period but that the injury was not season-ending. Howard missed Wisconsin and Northwestern. Penn State’s initial USC availability report on October 7 again listed him out; reports later in game week may provide another update. The designation is for USC, not a newly announced season-ending diagnosis.
